This is beautiful, Stella. I have saved it to read again on a rainy day. We have an old, slightly knotty cherry tree in our garden. It still tries to bloom ever year and it's leaves are beautiful in autumn. Something about it makes me smile. It's tenacity and stubbornness, perhaps. I like that it hasn't given up. A tree with spirit. Take care, Naomi x
This made me think about my friend-tree, as I call him. When I lived in Brussels, my home was 12mins walk away from La Cambre woods. I used to come there often and sit underneath a tall oak tree with my back pressed against its trunk. Sometimes I'd bring my friend-tree water or rose petals as a thank-you offering.
Missing the tree this morning but it's a sweet kind of sadness 😌
Thanks Stella, I love your morning greeting to your trees. As for the sitspot, let’s talk practicalities in the reality of our damp isles - for instance do you take a Macintosh square to sit on? I have a yoga mat cut up into a small oblong that I try and remember to take if I go out for a longer walk. I haven’t found one place to sit locally though, and I like this idea. BTW can I come and live in your dream village when you find it? 😘
I have a sit mat - it’s not a fancy one although a quick google just led me to some very lovely ones for when I might upgrade! It’s an extra piece of plastic which I don’t particularly want but it does make all the difference to me actually sitting - your chopped up yoga mat sounds like the perfect solution. Looking forward to the warmer days when lying on the grass is back again.
Ps I thought of you yesterday as I finally ordered a copy of The Grassling. Can’t wait to read it 💚
Thanks for reminding me
How lucky I am to be in nature surrounded by trees not to far from a good oat latte in the village❤️🙏
You do live an a particularly special place - and what an amazing thing that you share it with so many people too! 💚
